What the Stage 2 rebuild changes vs. the OEM turbo

Hybrid Turbo replaces three OEM components inside the original housing. The forged 6+6 blade compressor wheel replaces the cast OEM wheel and raises mass-flow capacity by roughly 100%. The 9-blade or 5+5 exhaust turbine wheel drives the larger compressor without sacrificing spool speed. Reinforced bearings carry the higher shaft loads generated at 390-400 HP. The unit retains the OEM housing, OEM mounting flange, and OEM oil and coolant lines, which is what keeps the rebuild plug-and-play.

The Stage 2 unit fits every BMW model running a B46 or B48 engine in the 120i / 128i / 320i / 328i / 520i / 528i range. No bracket modification, custom downpipe, or wiring change is required. An ECU remap is recommended separately to realise the full 390-400 HP figure.

Fast-spool character retained

The 9-blade or 5+5 turbine wheel is sized to match the forged 6+6 compressor, which keeps boost onset close to the OEM response curve. The unit is not a large-frame conversion, it is a capacity upgrade that preserves daily drivability.

How the order and rebuild process works

Hybrid Turbo rebuilds the customer’s original turbocharger, the product is not a new-housing unit. The ordering process runs in five steps. First, place the order for SKU BMW-B48-STG2 and submit the vehicle VIN. Second, ship the original turbocharger to Hybrid Turbo for inspection. Third, Hybrid Turbo confirms the final price after VIN check and physical inspection of the core. Fourth, Hybrid Turbo rebuilds the unit with the forged 6+6 compressor, 9-blade or 5+5 turbine, and reinforced bearings. Fifth, the unit ships back ready for plug-and-play installation.

Pricing and conditions

The final price applies when the supplied core is rebuildable, the compressor housing, exhaust housing, and manifold must be free of cracks, stripped threads, or structural damage. A damaged wastegate actuator or specific components required for certain VIN-specific variants may affect the final cost. These are quoted individually after the VIN check and core inspection.

Why a VIN is required before final pricing

BMW fitted several turbocharger variants across the B48 production run, and component cost varies between those variants. Hybrid Turbo quotes the definitive rebuild price against the customer’s VIN to ensure full compatibility and accurate pricing for the specific model.
