The Warranty Period starts on the day the Product is delivered to you. Proof of delivery date is taken from the courier’s tracking record.
4. What this warranty covers
During the Warranty Period, if the Product develops a defect in materials or workmanship, we will, at our sole option – repair, replace, or refund the Product. Shipping costs for warranty service are handled under section 9.
Typical covered failures include (non-exhaustive):
- Manufacturing defects in the CHRA assembly;
- Bearing failures not caused by oil starvation or contamination;
- Imbalance caused by manufacturing tolerances;
- Actuator failure within specification;
- VNT/VGT mechanism seizing within specification;
- Casting defects in housings.
5. What this warranty does NOT cover
The warranty does not cover:
5.1. Installation and maintenance errors
- Improper installation by the Customer or any third party, including:
- failure to prime the oil feed before first start;
- failure to inspect and clean the oil feed and return lines;
- use of the wrong oil feed restrictor;
- incorrect positioning of the oil feed/return (must remain within 15° of vertical for gravity return);
- failure to replace gaskets, seals, or banjo bolt copper washers;
- over-tightened or under-tightened fasteners outside the manufacturer’s torque specs;
- failure to run the engine at idle for the recommended break-in period.
- Use of incorrect, contaminated, old, or degraded oil; failure to follow the vehicle manufacturer’s oil change intervals; use of oil that does not meet the OE specification.
- Operating the turbocharger on a vehicle with pre-existing faults, including excessive blow-by, cylinder compression loss, boost leaks, cracked intake piping, failed MAF/MAP sensors, or dirty/restricted air-filter.
5.2. Modifications and tuning beyond spec
- Any modification to the turbocharger, its actuator, the internal components, housings, or the wastegate after delivery;
- ECU tuning or software mapping that exceeds the safe operating parameters of the specific Product (maximum boost, maximum shaft speed, maximum EGT for the given wheel/housing combination);
- Use of water-methanol, nitrous oxide, or other chemical power-adders at levels or with fuel strategies that exceed the Product’s rated capacity;
- Combining the Product with other aftermarket components that cause it to exceed its designed operating envelope.
5.3. Motorsport and extreme use
- Competitive motorsport use – track days, drag racing, time attack, drifting, rallying, road racing, dyno sessions longer than diagnostic runs;
- Use on dyno-testing equipment for promotional, development, or record-attempt purposes not conducted by us;
- Use in vehicles fitted with launch control, anti-lag, or rolling-anti-lag systems not approved by us in writing for that specific Product.
5.4. External damage and force majeure
- Physical damage caused by accident, impact, collision, fire, flood, water ingress, or other external events;
- Foreign object damage (FOD) – debris from the engine, manifold, exhaust, or air intake reaching the compressor or turbine wheel;
- Damage from corrosion, rust, electrolysis, or exposure to road salt not typical of ordinary road use;
- Overspeed caused by boost creep, boost leaks, wastegate malfunction, or abnormal operating conditions.
5.5. Cosmetic and normal wear
- Paint or coating discoloration from heat;
- Heat-shield discoloration;
- Gaskets, seals, O-rings, banjo bolts (consumables);
- Minor shaft play within manufacturer spec;
- Surface oxidation not affecting function.
5.6. Procedural exclusions
- Products purchased from unauthorised third parties (not from us);
- Products where the serial number or identification marks have been removed, defaced, or altered;
- Products that have been opened, disassembled, or serviced by anyone other than us or a workshop we have authorised in writing;
- Claims submitted after the Warranty Period has expired.
6. Your obligations as the owner
To keep the warranty valid:
- Install the Product (or have it installed) in accordance with the installation instructions supplied with the Product and with the vehicle manufacturer’s service manual.
- Use the correct oil grade and quality, and observe the oil change intervals.
- Inspect and clean the oil feed and return lines; replace any pipes that are contaminated, damaged, or showing internal restrictions.
- Use fuel of the octane rating and quality required for the power level you are running.
- Keep maintenance records (oil change dates, mileage, service receipts) and provide them on request in the event of a warranty claim.
- Address any drivability issues (check-engine lights, boost leaks, smoke, unusual noises) immediately. Continued operation of a faulty vehicle will void the warranty.
- Do not exceed the rated operating envelope of the Product.
7. How to make a warranty claim
Step-by-step:
- Stop using the vehicle as soon as you notice a problem.
- Email contact@performanceturbo.eu with:
- your order number,
- the date of installation,
- current mileage/hours,
- installer’s name and workshop,
- a description of the symptoms,
- photographs and, where relevant, a short video (shaft play, smoke, oil in the intake, etc.),
- copies of service records, particularly recent oil changes,
- ECU / diagnostic readout if available (fault codes, datalogs).
- We will respond within 3 business days with either (a) a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number to send the Product back to us for inspection, or (b) a request for additional information.
- On receipt of the Product, we will perform an inspection and, if necessary, a teardown. You will receive an inspection report within 10 business days of our receipt of the Product.
- If the claim is approved, we will, at our option, repair, replace, or refund the Product.
- If the claim is rejected (e.g., the failure was caused by oil starvation, FOD, or tuning), we will provide a written explanation with photographs. You may then choose to (i) have the Product returned to you (at your cost), (ii) have us destroy it, or (iii) have us repair it at your cost per a quotation we provide.
8. Inspection fee
If the claim is rejected because the failure is demonstrably excluded under section 5, we may charge a reasonable inspection fee of up to [€100] (EUR 100). We will tell you the amount before performing teardown.
No inspection fee is charged for approved claims.
9. Shipping costs during warranty service
| Situation | Who pays |
|---|---|
| Valid warranty claim (defect confirmed) – outbound shipping to us | Customer initially, reimbursed after claim approval |
| Valid warranty claim – return shipping of repaired/replacement Product to Customer | Us |
| Rejected warranty claim – return shipping of the Product back to you | Customer |
10. No extension of warranty
Repair or replacement of a Product does not extend the original Warranty Period.
11. Statutory rights (Consumers)
This commercial warranty does not affect your statutory rights as a Consumer. In particular:
- EU / EEA / Polish Consumers are entitled to the statutory conformity guarantee of at least 2 years under Directive (EU) 2019/771 and, in Poland, the rękojmia under the Civil Code. This statutory guarantee is independent of and additional to our commercial warranty. If the Product is non-conforming, you may claim repair, replacement, price reduction, or – in certain cases – rescission of the contract, directly from us (Article 43a et seq. of the Polish Act on Consumer Rights).
- UK Consumers benefit from the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Consumers in the United States retain all rights under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and applicable state laws. Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any implied warranty that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable state law. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the limitations above may not apply to you.
- Consumers in other jurisdictions retain all rights they have under their national consumer-protection laws.
The duration of any implied warranty that cannot be disclaimed is limited to the duration of this commercial warranty to the extent permitted by applicable law.
